Welcome to Coffs Coast Little Athletics. By participating at Little Athletics, children have the opportunity to improve their athletic skills and abilities in an environment that focuses on sportsmanship and enjoyment. Our aim is to assist athletes, through encouragement, instruction and competition, to improve their athletic skills and abilities whilst meeting new friends.
Little Athletics is a family activity and parents, friends etc are encouraged to participate by acting as helpers. Little Athletics cannot function without the regular contribution from parents The majority of tasks are not difficult and there will be a committee member available to provide guidance and encouragement for parents with no experience in Athletics.
Athletes are requested to be at Toormina Oval by 3 50pm on Thursday Evenings for a 4.00pm sharp start (for Sep) and by 4.40pm on Thursday Evenings for a 4.50pm sharp start (Oct to March).
Athletes MUST be supervised at all times if it is not possible for you to be in attendance with your child/ren, it is important that you arrange for another adult to be responsible for them. Please do not drop your child off without making prior arrangements for their care. The Centre will not be responsible for children left at the ground after the completion of the program, or unsupervised children during the competition. We DO NOT provide a babysitting service.
Approximately 40 parents are needed each week to enable the Centre to run the program. This can be done while watching your child compete. No experience is needed, you might be required to hold a tape measure, record results or rake a long jump pit etc. setting up or packing away of equipment. A committee person will be only too happy to help with any queries you may have on any event.
Athletics can be a dangerous sport. There are shot puts, discus and javelins flying around. People often often walk across the track without looking. Athletes often jump on high Jump mats the wrong way. We need all athletes and parents to be safety conscious and take responsibility for their actions and those around them.

WET WEATHER Normal competition will proceed unless Toormina Oval is closed, dangerous or it is raining at commencement time. Please check the website. A notice/email will be posted by 4.30pm unless it is obvious earlier that it will be cancelled. We try to leave it as late as possible to give us the best chance of still running the night.
SUPERVISION PARENT RESPONSIBILITY: At least one parent (or guardian) must be present at all times to supervise children and to assist with the running of competition.
AWARD CERTIFICATES Award Certificates will be earned when an athlete meets or exceeds the 3 set achievement levels on at least 10 occasions. Ultimately 10 performances at the gold level will earn a Gold Award Certificate. However, if all 10 performances are not at the same level a lower level certificate will be awarded e.g. 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze performances = Bronze Award Certificate. If this athlete was then to have 4 more performances at the Silver level he/she would earn a Silver Award Certificate, etc.
PRESENTATION DAY Presentation day is to be held on Thursday 29 March at Boambee Bay Reserve at 5pm. All athletes that have had reasonable attendance during the season will receive a trophy. This will include recognition for athletes that have achieved zone, region and state representation as well as athletes that have achieved personal bests, etc during Thursday night competition.
