Jyii Mann has established himself as a force on the cross country scene as his performances in the past couple of weeks were further confirmed with a first and a third place on Sunday on the tough Diggers Beach course. He was pressured right to the finish in the 2 kms by Harrison Colyer who is having a great season as well. Tim Martin rounded out the podium for the males in the 2kms while the usual ‘suspects’, Jess Deans , Olyssa Onley and Elke Bowles claimed the honours for the females.
Isaiah Koopmans celebrated his 17th birthday by running 17.25 to take out the 5kms from Mitchell Karrasch on 17.51 and Mann on 17.55. Jess Deans backed up brilliantly to claim the double with victory in the female 5kms ahead of Georgia Kuchel with Fiona Bagley third.
The 10kms was the Tony & Karlie show with the two winners lapping some of the more sedate runners to finish first and second across the line. Nick Murray and Ed Brazier ducked under 40 minutes to take second and third behind Woolford while Tina Thompson and Tracy Austin filled those spots for the ladies.
While the 5 & 10 may have been a bit short of the advertised distances the toughness of tackling the two headlands at either end of Diggers Beach meant that no-one was interested in covering the extra metres.
