MNC Cross Country – 28 June 2015 – Nambucca

There were several break-through wins on Sunday on the Nambucca Heads course for the Mid North Coast Cross Country series. Long-striding Jacob Thorn led in the 2kms for the first time this season while Ella Williams from Hyland Park was equally clear in the female 2kms. In the 5kms Jonny Gusman stepped up to take the win with the more familiar figure of Jess Deans holding off training mate, Chloe Bulloch to lead in the females.

In the 10kms Edward Richards’ win was the third in successive weeks for runners returning from studies to run on ‘home’ turf. Luke Tarrant and Reece Edwards had done likewise at Heritage Park and Corindi respectively. Melissa Bulloch piloted the ladies through the 10kms in her usual unflappable style.

Runner-up positions went to Jyii Mann and Ainhoa Appleton in the 2kms, Ed Brazier and Chloe Bulloch in the 5kms and Nick Murray and Tracy Austin in the 10kms.

Daniel Williams ducked under 8 minutes to secure third in the 2kms then backed up to run the 5kms while his Dad, Keith claimed third for the men in the 10kms. Anthea Martin kept the youngsters honest with her third in the female 2kms. Harrison Collier showed what youth could achieve racing to third in the male 5kms. In that race Susan Tong made a welcome return to racing to garner a podium spot as well. Lyn Fulton rounded out the women’s 10kms podium.

Special mention should be made of the effort of Charlotte Williams who jogged through the 2kms and then lined up for her first ever 10kms.
